How to setup a HomeKit Hub #
If you’re at home on your iPhone, your HomeKit-enabled ClearSky Bridge Home Security kit will work without a hub, but for any remote access or control, you will need an ever-present, Wi-Fi enabled, device in your house.
The following Apple devices can be used as a HomeKit Home Hub
Apple TV (HD or 4K)
HomePod or HomePod Mini
Apple TV HD/4K #
An Apple TV is a great choice as a home hub because it’s always plugged in and connected to the internet. Also its remote control has Siri built-in so you can ask it to operate or check the status of your ClearSky devices without having to reach for your phone.
Setup Directions:
Step 1: On your iOS device enable two-factor authentication for your Apple ID. Head to the iCloud settings and make sure keychain access is enabled.
Step 2: You’ll need to be signed into the same iCloud account on the Apple TV (Settings > Accounts to check).
Step 3: Verify the the apple TV is connected to HomeKit Settings > AirPlay & HomeKit > HomeHub to check if HomeKit is connected.
HomePod or HomePod Mini #
The HomePod or HomePod Mini would be the best choice as a home hub because it’s also always plugged in and connected. It is also the easiest to setup as a home hub. Simply make sure two-factor authentication is enabled for your apple ID, approved keychain access and you are signed in with the same iCloud account. The HomeKit Hub setup will be automatic.
You can verify by going on your iPhone Home App, then top left corner tap the house icon and go to home settings. Scroll down to Hubs & Bridges > Home Hubs and you should see your HomePod as Connected.
